We provide this information as a research tool for our clients, to help get a feel for what a particular guide is like. We can give you our input as well. You are free to book directly with the guide or through us, the price will be the same either way, but we only get a small commission from the guide when you book through us. John Farrell fishing guideJohn Farrell is based in Dannevirke,Southern Hawkes Bay on the banks of the Manawatu River.Guides on all Hawkes Bay rivers such as the Tukituki,Mohaka,Ripia,Waipawa to name a few and wilderness high country streams also. Specialises in dry fly and nymph for rainbow and brown trout. All gear is available from rods to waders,accomadation and airport pick ups can be arranged. Frank Murphy
Frank Murphy fishing guideFrank spent all of his younger life as a professional hunter operating a helicopter base out of Motu for 10 years, he then decided on a change of lifestyle reverting back to his first love dry fly fishing. Starting a guiding business and Murphy s Lodge 20 years ago he has now built a reputation as a master of dry fly. The lodge is situated within easy walking distance of one of the world s best classic dry fly fishing rivers for sighted large brown trout. Motu river is the only river in New Zealand completely protected by law. Frank is the longest serving President of NZ Professional Fishing Guides Association representing 200 anglers throughout New Zealand.
Grant Petherick
Grant Petherick has lived in Hawkes Bay all his life and has been flyfishing in the area and the central North Island for the past 35 years. He has spent 3 seasons guiding in Alaska and has also guided clients of Tongariro, Huka and Poronui Lodges. Hawkes Bay over 30 rivers and streams ranging from spring creeks and free stone rivers on the plains, to wilderness streams accessed by helicopter in the Kaweka and Kaimanawa ranges. Fishing is available 12 months / year. Grant also specialises in personalized wine tours to the many vineyards in the Hawkes Bay region.
