We provide this information as a research tool for our clients, to help get a feel for what a particular guide is like. We can give you our input as well. You are free to book directly with the guide or through us, the price will be the same either way,  but we only get a small commission from the guide when you book through us.  So this is the honor system I guess. Alan Wilson

Bill Rogers
Bill has lived and fished in the Gore area since childhood and has been a full time guide for the last 8 years specialising in match the hatch dry fly fishing on the Mataura River. For variety, the Mataura is within easy reach of waters that offer other styles of fly fishing. All flies are tied personally and tailored for the local hatches and conditions. Bill can cater for everyone from the novice to the most experienced fisherman. He will plan and organize everything, including accommodation, transport, additional gear and lunches.

Daryl is part of the team at SOUTHLAND FLY FISHING GUIDES and has been a member of the NZPFGA for 10 years. Having fly fished since a young boy and having been brought up on the banks of the Upper Mataura River allows for a wealth of experience and local knowledge. Daryl specializes in sight fishing for both Brown and Rainbow Trout using Dry Fly and Nymph patterns created by himself on all Southland, Fiordland and West Otago rivers ranging from the remotest stunning back country streams to the beautiful slower moving lowland rivers. John Hannibus
A fly fisherman of many years experience, John is based in Gore and has been guiding since 1980 and has been an NZPFGA member since 1987. He guides mainly on the Mataura and tributaries and also some selected streams in Otago.
