We provide this information as a research tool for our clients, to help get a feel for what a particular guide is like. We can give you our input as well. You are free to book directly with the guide or through us, the price will be the same either way,  but we only get a small commission from the guide when you book through us.  So this is the honor system I guess. Alan Wilson
Alan Wilson has many years of experience and local knowledge of fishing, guiding in the Southland region. Providing experience and professionalism is my commitment and sharing the paradise of Southland with anglers worldwide is my pleasure. Barry Perkins
Barry Perkins.lives and fishes around the southern town of Gore. This pretty rural town of 10,000 people has the famous Mataura River running through it. There are also 26 other rivers and streams within an hours drive. The Mataura River has some of the best "Match the Hatch" fishing. Bill Rogers
Bill has lived and fished in the Gore area since childhood and has been a full time guide for the last 8 years specialising in match the hatch dry fly fishing on the Mataura River. For variety, the Mataura is within easy reach of waters that offer other styles of fly fishing. All flies are tied personally and tailored for the local hatches and conditions. Bill can cater for everyone from the novice to the most experienced fisherman. He will plan and organize everything, including accommodation, transport, additional gear and lunches.

Bryan Burgess
Mataura River and surrounding streams specialist, fish 20 rivers and streams within an hours drive of Gore, all easy walking river banks and shingle bottoms. Daryl Paskell
Daryl is part of the team at SOUTHLAND FLY FISHING GUIDES and has been a member of the NZPFGA for 10 years. Having fly fished since a young boy and having been brought up on the banks of the Upper Mataura River allows for a wealth of experience and local knowledge. Daryl specializes in sight fishing for both Brown and Rainbow Trout using Dry Fly and Nymph patterns created by himself on all Southland, Fiordland and West Otago rivers ranging from the remotest stunning back country streams to the beautiful slower moving lowland rivers. Dean Bell
Dean a member of the NZFGA since 1994 specialises in the exclusive sighting and stalking of oversized brown and rainbow trout he takes pride in upskilling all anglers so that not only do they leave having had the greatest fly fishing experience they also depart a fly fisher with the necessary skills to succeed on one of the most demanding stages in fly fishing, that being New Zealand. For those with a passion for wild places there exits no wilder place in New Zealand than the immense Fiordland National Park and a fly fishing excursion into this area is one of the great adventures in the angling world - combination of local and wilderness waters gives anglers a great overview of what the area offers.

Graeme Watson
Graeme is part of the team at "Southland Fly Fishing Guides" who all have a wealth of experience and local knowledge.Graeme has had over 40 years of fly fishing experience in the Southland, Fiordland and Otago region.Graeme specializes in sighting and stalking feeding browns in rivers such as the Oreti, Mataura and Waikaia or hooking aggressive rainbows in the Mararoa ,Waiau and Fiordland rivers.

John Hannibus
A fly fisherman of many years experience, John is based in Gore and has been guiding since 1980 and has been an NZPFGA member since 1987. He guides mainly on the Mataura and tributaries and also some selected streams in Otago. He can supply all equipment including top line fly rods and chest waders, and can also arrange accommodation if required. 4WD transport is provided plus all dry flies, nymphs and leaders along with a first class stream side lunch.    fishing@esi.co.nz

Julian Peters
Julian is Based out of Gore, gateway to your southern fishing experience. and has enjoyed guiding visiting anglers around Southland and Otago for 10 years. Providing a professional and personal experience for anglers is Julian's aim. Showing you my Ccountry a must, sharing my knowledge and experience, a pleasure. Mike Molineux has been fishing and guiding for brown & rainbow trout in the Rivers & Lakes of Fiordland for the past 25yrs. Murrray Knowles
Murray has been guiding in the Te Anau/Northern Southland areas since 1974, specialising in fly fishing, but excellent spin fishing is also available; all gear and hip boots can be supplied when necessary.Murray can arrange accommodation, from world class lodges through a big range of hotels, motels, B & Bs including backpacker places, with full ensuite units at affordable prices.
