The following is a list of  fly fishing guides in New Zealand specific to the area listed above.

We provide this information as a research tool for our clients, to help get a feel for what a particular guide is like. We can give you our input as well. You are free to book directly with the guide or through us, the price will be the same either way,  but we only get a small commission from the guide when you book through us.  So this is the honor system I guess. Casey Cravens
Casey Cravens guides the Mataura, Otago and Southland streams, and wilderness rivers of the South Island. His fishing obsession dates back to a childhood in a hot dry land far, far away. For 20 years he's fly fished for a wide range of speciesfrom Texas black bass and redfish to Rocky Mountain cut throats, to Quebec's sea-run brook trout and Atlantic salmon. Casey moved to Dunedin in 1993, where he and his wife raise two boys. He enjoys backpacking the high country with camera and fly rod, sight fishing with a dry fly, and tying new patterns for hatch-driven rivers like the Mataura. "I often feel blessed," he says, "surrounded by the world's finest trout streams and lucky in love". His wife Elaine is not just an accomplished cook whose meals make their trout tours a moveable feast. Shes also a child psychologist. "These two qualities explain a lot about Wild Angler's success," he says.

 

Dean Whaanga
Dean is an internationally recognized fly fishing guide with over 30 years experience throughout the Farlie / MacKenizie Country / Southland and Otago areas contributes to an intimate knowledge of waterways. Dean has built up an honest relationship with landowners and has access to many wonderful low pressured rivers and streams. The headquarters for Otago Trout Fishing is situated in Ranfurly 1700ft above worry level, midway point on State Highway 85 between Dunedin, capital of Otago and Alexandra in Central Otago. Dean has a reputation for delivering the goods for his clients, testimonial to this is the amount of return clients each season. Often described as a jovial, kind and very patient guide with the eyes of a Hawk. Bed and Breakfast options are available at our B&B Trout and Trail or packages for fish and stay.

Gerald Telford
Gerald Telford  fishing guideGerald Telford is a Fly Fishing Guide base out of Wanaka in the Southern Lakes of the South Island. He specialises in sight fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the rivers and streams of Otago, Southland and Central South Island. Daily rate includes all equipment including fly rod and waders. For the enthusiastic angler a multi day Southern Circuit is the way to go.

 

Graeme Warren
Graeme Warren (Squid) is a fishing guide who specialises in sight fly fishing to Browns and Rainbows. Spin fishing options for those that prefer this method of angling. Salmon fishing with either fly or spin fishing methods.
Operating out of Kurow in the Central South Island region gives Squid and the angler a wide variety environments and waters from which to chose, small streams to large braided rivers and lakes. Using 4X4, jet boat and helicopter to get into those more remote and less targeted areas. Single or multi day trips with camping out options for expert or novice anglers.

Stuart Tripney
Stuart is proud to be a FFF Qualified casting instructor. In 2007 stu became the first ever FFF certified Master casting instructor in New Zealand. He personally guides all his clients, so this ensures that you will will have the best possible care and attention. The fly fishing in New Zealand is just awesome. To see the fish - stalk the fish, then if all goes to plan, to catch it. All this makes the blood of the experienced fisherman, or the novice, pump like nothing else in the world.
